Golf Course Information

Ranked in the Top Ten golf courses in Portugal, and the top 30 in Continental Europe, the 27-hole Penha Longa golf course is a parkland beauty, set in the Sintra Hills of Western Portugal. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr, the golf course features snaking, tight fairways that curve around lakes, hills and old ruins. The golf course hosted the Portuguese Open three times since opening in 1992. The 27-hole route consists of the Atlantic Championship and Monastery circuits; both provide completely different experiences.

The experience of parkland golf with rolling hills pockmarked by various lakes and sand traps makes Penha Longa golf course a truly exciting golf course. Not to mention the Robert Trent Jones Jnr design, which features wild doglegs, fairway and greenside bunkers and classic Trent-Jones greens which are often bordered by lakes. Expect a fun-filled round of golf; your take-away depends what you want from the experience. Rooms

With 194 luxuriously appointed rooms and suites, the Penha Longa Resort feature luxurious bedding with fantastic amenities. Choose between Deluxe or Deluxe Natural Park View rooms, which are twice the size of normal hotel rooms at 50 square metres. The only difference between room categories is the view; Deluxe Rooms have forest views, whilst the latter has views over the park and 14^th century Monastery. Each room type has a king-sized bed or two beds, with a spacious private balcony. Enjoy a Nespresso coffee machine, marble bathroom with separate bathtub and shower, as well as complimentary turn-down service nightly.

Suites

Suites at the Penha Longa Resort are world-class. Starting with the Sintra Suite, there are seven different categories to choose from, all the way up to Presidential and Imperial suites. The lowest-level suite (Sintra) has a maximum capacity for three adults, and measures 80 square metres, while the Imperial Suite measures 415 square metres and is fit for an emperor! Midori

Midori is the only Michelin-starred Japanese Restaurant in Portugal. The famous restaurant offers a unique culinary adventure featuring modern Japanese cuisine from the highest quality ingredients. The restaurant features a sophisticated, light-filled interior and intimate surroundings, complemented by breathtaking views of the Sintra Mountains. Arola

Offering a-la-carte food daily from 0900 to 23.30, the Arola restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Arola’s menus offer a creative and contemporary twist to Portuguese cuisine, mixing tradition and heritage with an inimitable modern approach. Take it a step further by selecting the Chef’s Table Experience or wine tasting, both of which give you a personal experience with the Arola team.

Penha Longa Mercatto

Open for breakfast daily from 07.00 to 11.00, and dinner from Sunday to Wednesday from 19.00, the Penha Longa Mercatto Restaurant offers the best Italian cuisine in Cascais. The kitchen focuses on fresh ingredients to bring new flavours to classic Italian specialties. Pair your meal with a wine tasting, or book a Chef’s Table experience for up to ten people for a private insight into Italian cuisine, cooking methods and know-how.

B Lounge

The B Lounge Bar at Penha Longa Resort is open daily from 11.00 to 00.00. Offering Afternoon tea for indulging in sweet foods, this service is available in the afternoons. Enjoy a gin workshop, or a signature cocktail accompanied by a Cuban cigar; the B Lounge transforms from a cost afternoon tea retreat to a bustling bar open to 1AM daily.

Aqua

Located by the poolside, Aqua is a seasonal restaurant open from 10.00 to 17.00. Located by the poolside and overlooking the Sintra mountains, expect refreshing, delicious food, snacks and salads while you enjoy your relaxation time.

Spices

Spices is the newest restaurant at Penha Longa Resort. It is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 19.00 to 22.30. The cuisine captures the culinary diversity of Asia with delicacies from Thailand, Vietnam, China and Japan. The beautifully-presented dishes are served in an elegant yet formal setting, where diners can savour world-class cuisine with spectacular views.

Penha Longa Historical Circuit

The Penha Longa property came into existence in 1355 when Friar Vasco Martins and his companions from St Jerome Order decided to build a monastery that remained for 500 years after. The Penha Longa property is at the heart of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, which offers you the opportunity to experience nature and learn its history at the same time. How to Get There

The Penha Longa Resort is located on the southeast side of the Sintra Hills, just minutes away from the Atlantic coast and 25-minutes to Lisbon’s international airport, and 30 minutes to Lisbon’s city centre. If arriving from the airport, take the E1 highway for half a kilometre before taking the A37 to N249 in Sintra for 24 kilometres, before taking the N9 to your destination. The coastal route is also very popular: take the coastal road from Lisbon to Cascais, and head north until you see signs for the Penha Long Resort.
