About

Located just half an hour from New Zealand’s largest city of Auckland, Windross Farm is a modern links golf course designed by Brett Thompson of RBT Design. Thompson also had a hand in the South Island heavyweights Jacks Point and The Hills Golf Club. Windross Farm is a new golf course which opened in 2016, but hosted the LPGA McKayson New Zealand Women’s Open in 2017. The Championship golf course is a visual marvel to see, and just as fun to play. It is easily accessible by car from Auckland and only 30 minutes from the famous Titirangi Golf Club which was designed by Alister MacKenzie. The private-members club at Windross Farm welcomes visitors, and features world-class practice facilities and Clubhouse with a contemporary café tucked in a rustic lodge building.

Golf Course Information

Windross Farm Golf Course is a must-play golf course during your visit to New Zealand’s North Island and Auckland. It plays like a traditional links course but has modern influences including man-made lakes and the sand-capped base to protect it from a high water table. The golf course is nestled among valleys and hills that support local farms, and the result is a that Windross Farm lives up to its rustic appeal as a country golf destination while gaining its championship pedigree at such a young age. It is a testament to Brett Thompson and his design team that Windross Farm has gained such acclaim so soon after opening; the course is ranked at New Zealand’s #15th Top Golf Course by Australian Golf Digest.

The fairways on the Windross Farm golf course are covered by Fescue Grass, which surrounds all greens, tees and bunkers. The bunkers have a dramatic links-appeal because the Fescue grass has been left to grow around each bunkers’ rim, creating an exciting challenge for golfers. Everything has been taken into consideration at Windross Farm, including the contrast between aesthetics and golf course texture, as well as drainage and surrounding views. The golf course is easily walkable and is open year-round; a must-do for any travelling golfer visiting New Zealand.
