Presidents Cup Teams
Each team is comprised of 12 players that feature eight automatic qualifiers plus four captain’s picks. The U.S top eight players are picked from the FedEx Cup points list. The International Team consists of the top eight international players at the time of choosing (non-European), plus four captain’s picks.
Presidents Cup Play Format
The Presidents Cup tournament is unique in its format of play. Occurring over four consecutive days from Thursday, 22 September to Sunday 25 September 2022. There are three days of team matches of alternate shots (foursomes), and better ball (four-balls), followed by Sunday singles. The scoring is determined on a hole-by-hole basis where there are 30 total points. This differs from the Ryder Cup which goes for three days and involves 28 points.
If the competition is even at the end of singles play, the result will be a tie and both teams will share the Presidents Cup. This differs from the Ryder Cup where the team that last won the tournament would retain the Cup.
Golf Course Information
The Quail Hollow Golf Course was designed in the 60s by George Cobb, but the course has been refurbished numerous times by the likes of Arnold Palmer and Tom Fazio. Quail Hollow’s golf course is set in a classic parkland layout with tree-lined fairways, bodies of water and strategically-placed sand bunkers. You will be lucky to play the Quail Hollow golf course: the only ways to play are to become a member, be invited by a member, or qualify for one of the many tournaments played there, including the Wells Fargo Championship and 2022 Presidents Cup. The course has a par of 71, and measures 7,442 yards / 6,805 metres from the tips. Read more about the Quail Hollow Club here.
