Golf Course Information

For the second year in a row, Quail Lodge & Golf Club has been awarded “Best Playing Conditions” for all of Central California by GreensKeeper (2016, 2017). Known for its playability, pristine conditions and beautifully manicured greens, the Monterey Peninsula golf course was originally designed by Robert Muir Graves in 1964 and refined in 2015 by Principle Designer Todd Eckenrode – Origins Golf Design. The recently enhanced 5,944-metre / 6,500-yard, par 71 Carmel Valley golf course is perfect for the walking golfer of all ages and skill, offering just enough bite to make it interesting.

The golf course itself is immaculately maintained and is easy to keep in such good conditions due to the geography of its location. It’s a relatively flat course, which makes it enjoyable at all times of day, especially when considering the hot Californian sun during summer. The challenges lie on the interspersed trees peppering the course at random, as well as the bunkers that are seemingly placed in the same category as the trees. Lining many fairways and surrounding many greens, the bunkers are relatively flat but can really punish your round if you land in them on the fairways. Adding to the mix are a few doglegs that are lined with large, bushy trees, as well as a few water hazards that make the course very interesting. Overall, Quail Golf Course is a pleasant course that can be enjoyed by players of every ability.

Accommodation

Two-Bedroom Villa Suite

The Two Bedroom Quail Villa Suite boasts over 2,000 square feet of luxurious comfort. A 600 square foot King Guestroom and a 700 square foot Double Queen Guestroom connected by a 700 square foot Parlour. Both Guestrooms feature a cosy, in-room fireplace, pull-out sofa bed, a secluded outdoor patio and an en suite with enhanced bath amenities, separate sink, toilet and bath area. The Parlour offers a fireplace seating area, dining table, living room and a powder room. Suite amenities include a writing table, mini-refrigerator, personal safe, iron and board, iPod dock, premium coffee maker, complimentary bottled water, speakerphone, voice mail, hair dryer and climate control.

Fireplace King Suite

The Fireplace King Suites feature a spacious California ranch style layout with carpet throughout, a sofa in the parlour, vaulted ceiling and a private patio with Adirondack furniture. Locations can be found in the single-story cottage buildings with a premier view of the gardens/grounds. Oversized bathrooms offer a separate bath and shower, make-up mirror, phone and bath amenities. Suite amenities include 2 in-room fireplaces, a desk, mini-refrigerator, personal safe, iron and board, iPod dock, premium coffee maker, speakerphone, voice mail, hair dryer and climate control. Bottled water is available for a fee.

Junior Suite

Located on the ground floor, the Junior Suites feature a spacious California ranch style layout with fireplaces in the living rooms, separate sleeping area, vaulted ceiling and a private patio with Adirondack furniture. The oversized bathroom is equipped with a shower, bathtub, make-up mirror, phone and bath amenities. Included in all of these suites are complimentary wireless Internet access and widescreen LCD HDTVs with cable and premium channels. Suite amenities include a mini-refrigerator, personal safe, iron and board, iPod dock, premium coffee maker, speakerphone, voice mail, hair dryer and climate control.

Premier King Suite

Premier King Suites feature a spacious California ranch style layout with hardwood floors, separate sleeping area and parlour with a pull-out sofa bed, vaulted ceiling and a private patio with Adirondack furniture. Locations can be found in the single-story cottage buildings with a premier view of the golf course, gardens/grounds, or pond.

Deluxe King Guestroom

Deluxe King Guestrooms feature a spacious California ranch style layout with hardwood floors, and a private balcony or patio. Rooms locations include a preferred view of the putting course, gardens/grounds or pond. . Amenities include a desk, mini-refrigerator, personal safe, iron and board, iPod dock, premium coffee maker, speakerphone, voice mail, hair dryer and climate control.

Superior Double Queen Guestroom

Superior Queen Guestrooms feature a spacious California ranch style layout with hardwood floors, and a private patio. Locations can be found on the ground level of the two-story buildings. Included in all rooms are complimentary wireless Internet access and a widescreen LCD HDTV with cable and premium channels. Amenities include a desk, mini-refrigerator, personal safe, iron and board, iPod dock, premium coffee maker, speakerphone, voice mail, hair dryer and climate control.

Edgar’s

Set in the Clubhouse of Quail Lodge & Golf Club, Edgar’s Restaurant and Bar features a casual elegance with its indoor and outdoor fireside dining located alongside the natural backdrop of the golf course and Santa Lucia Mountains. This restaurant is proudly guided in the principles of sustainability by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch and focuses on local farm to table options.

Quail’s Nest

Quail’s Nest Snack Bar is located between the Driving Range and Hole #9 at Quail Lodge Golf Club. Open seasonally, golfers can grab a beverage or snack for a quick refuel before hitting the course. Orders can also be placed at the turn for pickup before starting that back nine. If closed, requests can be filled at Edgar’s, located in the Clubhouse.

Waypoint bar & Kitchen

Inspired by The Peninsula Hotel’s Signature Motoring Events hosted annually at Quail Lodge & Golf Club – The Quail Motorcycle Gathering and The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering – and paying homage to the art of travel and the modes of transportation that move people along on different journeys, Waypoint provides an authentic, yet casual atmosphere featuring real motorcycles provided by the Moto Talbott Collection in Carmel Valley, motorsports-themed artwork by renowned local artist Molly McCall, and a selection of interactive games to be enjoyed, such as billiards and darts.

Pool

Quail Lodge offers a sparkling year-round heated outdoor swimming pool and dedicated fitness cabanas featuring state-of-the-art equipment to enjoy complimentary throughout your stay. The poolside arrangement of comfortably padded, teak chaise lounge chairs offer a relaxing way to dry off while soaking up the sun surrounded by our lush landscape.

Fitness

The Fitness Area offers three secluded cabanas dedicated to cardio, weightlifting and yoga and stretching. Quail’s state-of-the-art equipment includes treadmills, stationary bikes, ellipticals, an array of free weights, workout benches and machines, floor mats, abdominal balls and other fitness equipment.

Golf Academy Lessons & Clinics

Led by PGA Director of Instruction, Katherine Marren, and her highly skilled staff of instructors, Quail Lodge’s Acclaimed Golf Academy offers dynamic lesson plans for beginner, intermediate, advanced and junior players!

How to Get There

The Quail Lodge & Golf Club Resort is located on the West Coast of California, soaking up year-round sun. The resort is just 15-minutes’ drive from Monterey, and five minutes away from Pebble Beach. Santa Cruz is the nearest city, which lies on the northern end of Monterey Bay, just an hour’s drive. San Francisco is a two-hour drive away, whilst Las Angeles is a five-hour drive to the south.
