Completely renovated in 2008, the Bayonet Black Horse 36-hole golf facility transforms the golf scene on the Monterey Peninsula. It enriches the current offerings of Pebble Beach, Cypress Point, Quail Lodge and a plethora of other courses with two championship layouts that is the centrepiece of Gene Bates’ Golf Design Group. Having played host to numerous tournaments such as the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour and Champions Tour, the two courses are cemented in Californian golfing glory.
Black Horse, a 6,423-metre / 7,024-yard, par-72 layout, features sweeping vistas of the Pacific and is highlighted by fescue-framed fairways, bunkers with distinctive, serrated edges and slickly-contoured greens. The par-3 15th, created during the renovation, faces the bay and is sure to emerge as one of the great holes on the Peninsula. Distinctively different than its previous design, Black Horse has been transformed from a series of tightly tree-lined holes to a more open, flowing and comfortable environment. Moreover, the strategic and visual impact is nonetheless developing into the ideal complement to Bayonet.
The golf precinct at Bayonet Black Horse features a fully equipped golf shop that features complete lines of men’s and women’s equipment and attire, as well as premium rental equipment. The practice facility consists of a new double-ended driving range, and a total of 58,000 square feet of grass-only hitting space. There are two short-game areas, along with a greenside bunker and large putting green.
The Golf Academy offers state-of-the-art technology to constantly revise and improve your golf game. They offer fantastic service in a number of golf schools, lessons & clinics, club fittings and demo days.
The Clubhouse restaurant offers expansive views and a dining choice of inside or on the outdoor patio. Local produce is utilised to full effect in the Bayonet Grill, and the bar offers specialty drinks, six beers on tap, with gourmet food and stunning views of the water in Monterey Bay.
