    Golf Course Information

Set amongst County Sligo’s lush hills, 2011 Open Champion Darren Clarke designed the Castle Dargan Hotel golf course with the help of Irish architect Patrick Merrigan, which opened in 2006. The 18-hole championship golf course is considered one of Ireland’s best parkland tracks; it meanders through semi-forested grounds and sports lush green fairways. The three opening and closing holes are considered Castle Dargan’s best holes, but the entire course is exhilarating.

Course designer Darren Clarke sought to utilise the natural lay of the land for Castle Dargan’s golf course. The 18-hole track weaves through hills and forests with natural lakes, burns and ancient stone walls adding to the golf course’s grandeur. Challenges come in the form of doglegs, water features, abundant trees and thick rough, while greenside bunkers broach tough approach shots into greens. For those visiting Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, consider Castle Dargan for a parkland break to the usual links golf courses found in Ireland’s north-west, it’s well worth a visit.
