About

The Dunes golf Links is a 27-hole golf complex set near the coast on the Mornington Peninsula. It has a 9-hole Cups Course, and an 18-hole Dunes Course. The Dunes has been ranked amongst Australia’s Top 20 Golf Courses for the last 20 years, and the entire complex regularly maintains its reputation as Australia’s premier public-access golf facility. Designed by Tony Cashmore, the Dunes Course offers a modern links layout on very sandy soil that drains well and is open year-round. The Dunes consistently ranks as Victoria’s best public access course and in the Top 3 public access courses Australia wide.

The Dunes Golf Course features in our Mornington Peninsula golf package. Other courses included in the package are the Moonah Links Legends Course, St Andrews Beach, and The National Golf Club. The Peninsula has a lot to offer for golfers and non-golfers, whether it’s wineries, horse riding, surfing or enjoying distinct culinary experiences, The Dunes lie within the centre of it all. With brand new accommodation onsite, The Links Lodge makes a perfect spot to base your Mornington Peninsula Golf Experience so you can play more golf courses while staying locally.

Golf Course Information

The Dunes Links enjoys a lot of success and popularity. Although laid out on prime links-land, the work of Tony Cashmore is remarkably innovative in that the course achieves the objective of being a challenge to the low handicapper without being too difficult for the average handicapper. There is a true risk-reward factor with the elevation changes, placement of the bunkers and layout of the course. The routing of each hole makes the course alter its direction in seemingly sporadic ways and the wind the often blows straight across the Great Australian Bight seriously affects golfers’ scorecards at The Dunes Links.

The Cups Course measures 2,533 yards, 2,316 metres and has a par of 33. It is a 9-hole course that is a lot more forgiving than its bigger sibling, The Dunes. The 6th hole which plays only 74 metres from the back tee has been voted ‘Best Short Par 3’ in Australia. It is the perfect warm-up or warm-down round for the Dunes Links. When playing golf at The Dunes golf links, make sure you make time for the full 27-hole experience, as the challenge of the Dunes is often offset by the great amount of fun offered by the Cups Course.
