About

Set on an idyllic stretch of land overlooking Barilla Bay, just north-east of Tasmania’s capital city of Hobart, lies the Tasmania Golf Club. The parkland golf course is situated on a headland bordered by tranquil water on three sides, in what can only be described as a typically Australian setting. The Golf Club was founded in 1971, with the Barilla Bluff being accessible by a bridge over the bay, it feels like Tasmania Golf Club is a private island on a privately-owned island. Tasmania Golf Club is just a 15-minute drive from Hobart CBD and two minutes from Hobart airport. Tasmania Golf Club is a must-play for those visiting Tasmania’s southern capital and a perfect opportunity to combine with Royal Hobart Golf Club.

No-one describes the golf course as mundane; strong drives, as well as a thoughtful strategy from the first tee to the eighteenth green, is paramount to scoring well. The signature hole occurs as early as the par-5 third, which is a whopping 528-metre saga. The hole follows the curve of Barilla Bay that demands accuracy from the tee and consistent hitting to reach the green alive. Having hosted the Australian Amateur Championship and Tasmanian Open, the Tasmania Golf Club is a must-play course, often played in conjunction with the nearby Royal Hobart Golf Club. The golf course is easily walkable and open year-round.
