About

Ranked number 14 in South Africa by Golf Digest, Fancourt’s Outeniqua golf course presents an 18-hole parkland layout that is tailored to provide a laid-back golfing experience. The golf course offers a more relenting layout than its counterpart, the Montagu, but it presents a fair share of challenges and water hazards on as many as 11 of its holes. Designed by Gary Player and named after the mountain range that forms its breath-taking backdrop, the course is pristinely conditioned to accommodate a large volume of players. A detailed stroke saver takes golfers through the course, providing distance measurements and images that assist players with navigating the course. The Outeniqua golf course is featured on our Week at Fancourt and Cape Town golf packages.

Golf Course Information

Designed by Gary Player and named after the mountain range that forms its breath-taking backdrop, the course is conditioned to accommodate a large volume of players. A detailed stroke saver takes golfers through the course, providing distance measurements and images that assist players with navigating the course. Of the two parklands courses offered at Fancourt, the Outeniqua is regarded as the easier. Don’t let that fool you however; the Outeniqua has been ranked the number one golf course in South Africa on a few occasions and presents a true test of golfing with its many risk-and-reward opportunities.

The 18-hole championship course has been ranked par 72 and offers four tees varying approximately 1.5km’s worth of pristine kikuyu fairway. The streams and water hazards that come into play on eleven of the holes add exciting shore challenges to the elegant course. Visitors are advised to book accommodation in George and tee-off times well ahead, to avoid disappointment. As with all the courses at Fancourt Golf Resort, players are limited to members, their guests and resort guests, providing a peace of mind when taking an extra moment to determine which weapon to draw from your arsenal of clubs.

Fondly referred to as the 19th hole, the Club Lounge overlooks the 18th green of the Montagu golf course and has become the customary end point after a good game. This destination provides a range of indoor and outdoor seating and offers a large selection of cocktail snacks, clubhouse steaks and burgers. Sporting enthusiasts can enjoy televised sporting events in the lounge area or enjoy a few drinks at its well-stocked bar.
