2022 Presidents Cup Captains Named

America’s own 21-time PGA Tour winner Davis Love III will captain the Team USA Presidents Cup field at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Love’s affiliation with the golf tournament dates back to 1994 where team USA beat the International Team with a margin of 20-12 under the captaincy of Hale Irwin, where Love was 30 years old and assisted 10 points to the victory. Fast-forward to 2022 and Davis Love III will be 59 years old as he heads Team USA at Quail Hollow Club.

Love is no stranger to limelight; he has played in six Presidents Cup teams, captained Ryder Cup USA twice with an even win-loss record. The 2022 Presidents Cup was delayed due to Covid-19, although Quail Hollow has been kept as the host venue. After 2022, the event will resume play biennially on even years. The 2022 tournament will see freshly minted US President Joe Biden as current president during the event as the 46th President of the United States.

Love Vs. Immelman

The International Captain has been named as Trevor Immelman, who won the US Masters in 2008. Immelman is a South-African golfer from Cape Town whose sole major win was the 2008 Master; the International Team are seen as the underdogs going into Quail Hollow Club. Team International has never won the Presidents Cup on U.S soil. The event is scheduled for 22 – 25 September 2022.
