Cape Kidnappers Golf Course
Designed by Tom Doak and considered the world’s 16th best golf course by Golf Digest, the Cape Kidnappers golf course is framed by white cliffs over 140 metres in height. Photos alone do not do the golf course justice; Cape Kidnappers is a bucket-list golf course that plays along ridges where wayward golf balls fly for five to ten seconds before they crash into the ocean below. The golf course plays along narrow tendrils of land with deep ridges between holes.
Napier Golf Club
Established as a golf club in 1896, Napier Bay Golf Club is the region’s oldest. Designed by Charles Redhead, the 6-kilometre parkland golf course hosted the first New Zealand Open and has since enjoyed a long history. The golf course feels much more enclosed when compared to Cape Kidnappers; it features towering pines and native trees, but the grass is interestingly void of scrub and low-lying bushes.
Hastings Golf Club
A parkland golf course almost as old as Napier, Hastings Golf Club (known colloquially as Bridge Pa), was founded in 1898. The course follows a traditional parkland layout with tree-lined fairways and doglegs leading to tricky greens. The local flora and fauna found on the 18-hole course is simply magnificent. A round of golf at Hastings Golf Club is tranquil, fun and a great complement to nearby Cape Kidnappers.
One of the world’s most renowned golf resorts, Cape Kidnappers doubles as both a luxury resort and working farm. The unique experience golfers engage in while at Cape Kidnappers is unlike anything they have experienced before. The exclusive Resort operates on a full-board basis: from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, every meal is taken care of with breakfast, lunch and dinner provided at the Resort restaurant. Afternoon canapes and drinks can be enjoyed sitting back on the verandah of your room or the common areas of the main building.
Cape Kidnappers is a fully immersive experience that has been listed within the top 20 hotels in the world by Conde Nast Traveller, and in the top two hotels in Australia and New Zealand by Travel + Leisure. A golfers paradise, the Resort has golf practise facilities including a driving range, putting green, short-game area and more. Spend your afternoons practising your game or experiencing the working sheep farm. Perhaps you might enjoy an afternoon horse ride or if you are feeling a bit more adventurous, a quad-bike around the cliffs.
Hawke’s Bay Winery Tour
Enjoy an afternoon being guided around Hawke’s Bay by locals who are dedicated to creating wine. Learn the lessons of local horticulture, history and passion for grapes and vines. Your guide will pick you up from Cape Kidnappers Resort, before guiding you throughout Gimblett Gravels, Bridge Pa Triangle, Maraekakaho and surrounds. Your tour includes tasting fees and a cheese board platter. We expect this tour to take around four hours.
