Accommodation Options
The K Club
There is no better way to begin your golf holiday than by driving straight to The K Club, also known as The Kildare Club. Set on a massive estate within 30-minutes of Dublin Airport, the historic K Club Resort has pioneered 5-star service in Ireland for the last two decades. The Resort combines old-world elegance with indulgent luxury so that you will be treated to the best of both worlds. The golf practice facilities are world-class and often attract visitors for golf clinics. There are two courses at The K Club, the lesser-known Smurfit Course, and the better-known Ryder Cup Course, designed by Arnold Palmer and the 2006 Ryder Cup where Team Europe dominated team USA. When you get an opportunity to stay at Ireland’s most renowned golf resort, don’t miss out!
Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links
Within 20-minutes of Dublin city is Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links, idyllically tucked away on one of Ireland’s most stunning stretches of uninterrupted coastline. Family home to the Jameson (whiskey) dynasty, the luxurious hotel houses an award-winning spa and two award-winning restaurants. It is quiet, indulgent, serene and enthralling all at the same time. When it’s time for your round, walk to the practice facilities for a warm-up and then to the first-tee, located right near the Hotel. Portmarnock serves many purposes, from its close proximity to Dublin, allowing day trips, to its quiet seaside location with untouched white sand, but most importantly, the Bernhard Langer-designed golf course.
Carton House Golf Resort
Set on 1,100 acres of prime real estate, Carton House Resort has every amenity you could dream of, whilst being close to Dublin’s city centre. Two championship golf courses, three award-winning restaurants, the Carton Spa, recreational activities and much more awaits you at the famed Carton House, established 1739. The golf offering at Carton House is world-class; breath-taking views, impeccably maintained fairways, and legendary course architecture places Carton House in Ireland’s top 5 golf resorts.
Non-Golf Experiences
Kilmainham Gaol Museum*
A truly remarkable site, the Kilmainham Gaol in Dublin represents Irish militant history from rebellions, civil wars, and murders. It has housed big names associated with the Irish Republican movement from 1798’s first major rebellion to the civil wars of 1916, 1922-23 and various rebellions in between. Entry is by guided tours and trust us, it is the best way to see the gaol and learn about the petty crimes of some inmates, and the adventurous lives of others. Kilmainham Gaol offers a fantastic insight into Ireland’s troubled past with itself and the United Kingdom.
Traditional Irish music & Pub Crawl*
Pub crawls can be taxing at the best of times, but what better way of tasting Irish whiskeys, Guinness and diverse cuisine than having a tour of the best Irish pubs, listening to traditional Irish music at each venue. The experience focuses on the music being presented in a jovial pub atmosphere, as traditionally happens in pubs throughout the country. Your musician tour guides will explain the history and stories behind the music you hear, creating a truly immersive and interactive evening while you get to learn about Dublin from locals.
Guinness Storehouse Dublin
Learn about a 250-year-old development that has become Dublin’s’ biggest beer brand. In 1759 Arthur Guinness signed a lease for 9,000 years at St. James’s Gate Brewery at the same site in Dublin; the tour will explain the intricate history of the Guinness brand and brewing process. There are seven floors to tour that are shaped around a giant pint which, if filled, would contain 14.3 million pints of Guinness. At the end of the tour, you will finish at the 360 bar, also Dublin’s tallest bar; you will also receive a complimentary pint of Guinness.
The Book of Kells & Trinity College
The Book of Kells Exhibition is a must-see when in Dublin. In the centre of Trinity College, located in the heart of Dublin, the Book of Kells is on display; a 9th century manuscript that documents the four gospels of the life of Jesus Christ. The Book of Kells is Ireland’s greatest cultural treasure and one of the world’s most famous medieval manuscript. The exhibition also features access to the Long Rom, one of the world’s most beautiful libraries that houses 250,000 of Trinity College’s oldest books.
