As of 2020, Carton House has been known as the Fairmont Carton House under a new deal with French Hotelier Accor, who have taken ownership of the Kildare property.

    Nestled in the heart of 1,100-acres of private parkland in Maynooth County Kildare, Carton House Golf Club is a respite from the outside world and yet is just 25 mins from both Dublin Airport and city centre. Home to two championship courses, Carton House Golf Club offers breath-taking views, impeccably maintained fairways, a convenient location and an exceptional golfing experience. The Resort was the host of The Irish Open in 2005, 2006 and 2013; its fame as a championship golf venue is renowned.

     

    Montgomerie

    Inspired by the greatest links lands of the world, The Montgomerie pays tribute to the traditions of the game and sets a challenge like no other. Designed by Colin Montgomerie with numerous cavernous bunkers to test even the seasoned golfer, journey across 7,300 yards of impeccable greens and vast fairways as you play on the soil many an Irish Open champion has. Are you up to the challenge of the Montgomerie? The Montgomerie is a Par 72 inland links golf course which measures 7,301 yards from the blue championship tees making it one of the more preferred golf courses in Ireland.

     

    O’Meara

    Designed by 1998 Open Champion and US Masters Champion Mark O’Meara, beware the beauty of this classic parkland course as it is still full of challenges. Meander through ancient woodlands and skirt the banks of the river Rye before sending the ball soaring over golden waters.

     

    Played by over 30,000 players every season the 18th hole offers a breath-taking backdrop of Carton’s historic Palladian Manor House, reflective lake and picturesque Boat House-said to have been custom-built for Queen Victoria. Designed to challenge golfers of all abilities whilst bringing the beauty and history of the Carton estate to the fore. The O’Meara is a Par 73 parkland golf course which measures 7,165 yards from the blue championship tees.

    Carton House Suites

    Enjoy a restful nights’ sleep in one of the Carton House suites located in the original Manor House, once the residence of the aristocratic Fitzgerald family. Each suite is tastefully decorated to reflect the estate’s historic charm whilst also offering all the modern amenities expected of a well-appointed resort. From large open plan rooms with private dining facilities to separate living rooms, Victorian architecture to elegant draping, each suite is uniquely luxurious.

     

    Presidential Suites

    Stay in the rooms the Duke and Lady of Carton House once did with their Presidential Suites. Admire the extraordinarily high ceilings of The Lady Emily, The Dukes Suite and the Lord Edward each with their own unique view of the surrounding 1,100-acre estate. Each suite contains a luxurious four poster bed with a fireplace, full sitting room, floor to ceiling windows and a well-appointed bathroom complete with a freestanding bath, double sinks and walk in shower.

    The Linden Tree

    Nestled among the estate’s soaring Linden Trees, the multi-levelled interior has been designed to accommodate glass walls, wide skylights and floor to ceiling picture windows – cleverly positioned to frame the unusual trees from every aspect of the bright interior. With the Chef preparing dishes with the very best of local Kildare produce, guests can enjoy a diverse range of Irish cuisine promoting artisan food producers. From contemporary to more traditional dishes featuring mouth-wateringly fresh seafood, tender meats and tempting desserts – all imaginatively served to complement an extensive wine list.

     

    The Kitchen Bar

    A quirky set of rooms located in the original kitchen wing of Carton House, the bar is a buzzing hive of activity – featuring original detail from the old pantry and the kitchen itself, with the stove still in its place and the cauldrons and pots resting intact. The Kitchen Bar is hugely popular with guests, allowing a contemporary take on this part of the house which creates a completely individual experience in each area. On a warm afternoon or balmy evening, guests can enjoy a chilled glass of wine or a cold drink in the walled courtyard adjacent to the Kitchen Bar.

    Club House

    Every great golf course deserves a great clubhouse, but when you have two world class courses it has to be absolutely outstanding! The Carton House Clubhouse does not disappoint. It has everything you need for both before and after your game. The Clubhouse hosts members and guests from throughout the world with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The relaxed spike bar buzzes with the craic and a flurry of golfing folklore. The restaurant menu suggests traditional dishes using the freshest ingredients of the season and is a great place to wind down and appreciate fine food amongst friends.

    Arch BBQ

    Situated in the walled courtyard, The Arch is the perfect location for corporate and family groups, to celebrate an occasion or simply to enjoy great food and drinks, al fresco style. Enjoy a selection of culinary delights including a sizzling BBQ, a range of carefully selected salads and a selection of treats that will satisfy your sweet tooth!

    Afternoon Tea

    Gather your friends and family together for that well overdue catch-up and indulge with afternoon tea at Carton House. Served in the beautiful and unique surroundings of the historic Manor House, enjoy a range of bite size sandwiches, freshly baked scones with home-made preserves and clotted cream along with a selection of mini seasonal desserts prepared by the in-house pastry team. Choose from a wide selection of teas and coffee or treat yourself to a little glass of bubbly or a cocktail from an extensive range and as you dine, admire the extraordinarily high ceilings and original cast oven stove that dates back to the 1800s.

    Leisure Centre

    Choose from an 18-metre swimming pool, complete cardiovascular gymnasium which comprises of two floors, upstairs for cardio and downstairs for resistance, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi before retreating to the luxurious changing facilities. Those with children can enjoy a splash in the Children’s pool or for those seeking a total body workout, the Leisure Centre offers a range of classes.

     

    Tennis

    The Resort has two outdoor tennis courts with racquets available upon request at the Guest Relations desk. Ideal for those with a competitive streak, non-golfers, or to settle bets, Carton House’ tennis courts are a whole lot of fun.

     

    Fishing

    Fishing in the Resort’s river is available from March to September and include pike, wild brown trout or salmon. You can choose to trout fish in the river or lake, both options will require accompaniment by the Resort Ghillie. Most guests at Carton House choose fly-fishing for salmon in the river. The lake provides larger trout than the river, but many guests choose the river for its lush, tranquil setting.

     

    Horse Riding

    Horse Riding at Carton House Resort in County Kildare is now available after the Resort partnered with a nearby equestrian centre for hourly treks or lessons. Suitable for non-golfers looking for an alternative to golf or beginners through to advanced riders, the equestrian centre will have something for everyone.

     

    Archery

    A fond past time for many Resort guests at Carton House, Archery is a great test of concentration and skill. The art of shooting a bow is mesmerising, historic and something our ancestors had to do to survive. Learn how to shoot or practise your archery skills at Carton House.

     

    Clay Pigeon & Air Rifle Shooting

    A very popular past-time for golfers at Carton House is Clay Pigeon and Air Rifle Shooting. Choose from a 25 or 50 bird for clay pigeon shooting. Not for the faint-hearted, this activity is located 15-minutes from the Resort; transfers can be arranged.

    How to Get There

    Carton House has to be one of the easily accessible golf-resorts in Europe. Less than half-an-hour’s drive from Dublin’s city centre and about 30-minutes’ drive from its airport, voyages.golf can arrange transfers or car-hire for those wanting to drive themselves. Carton House is also just under 2-hours’ drive from Belfast, for anyone arriving on the ferry from the mainland, or the north.
