As part of a long-term deal between the DP World Tour and the K Club, the Horizon Irish Open will be held at the prestigious Kildare Estate in 2023, 2025 and 2027. The event was last held at The K Club in 2016 when Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy took the title by three shots. The K Club famously became the first Irish Venue to host the Ryder Cup in 2006 where Europe won by 18 1/2 to 9 1/2.

The Irish Open follows other Open Championship formats with a 1-day practice round known as the Pro-Am, followed by four tournament days. The tournament is stroke play, meaning golfers count their shots over the four tournament days and whoever has the fewest consecutive shots over the tournament wins.
