About

Hosting two European Tour events, the PGA National is one of the West Midlands’ finest golf courses, and fast becoming one of the top courses in the United Kingdom. With its inland links appearance, this championship golf course presents a unique challenge thanks to hard and fast running fairways, undulating greens, severe run-offs and its 70 strategically placed cavernous bunkers. Recognised by the PGA as a world-class tournament course and the only PGA branded course in England, this course is a must for golfers who enjoy the creativity required for links golf. It is steadily growing its own reputation despite The Brabazon’s fame as The Belfry‘s premier course.

Golf Course Information

Considered one of England’s best golfing venues, set in 550 acres of countryside, The Belfry’s golf is phenomenal. The golf needs no introduction; having hosted the Ryder Cup 4 times, the Brabazon Course, Derby Course and the PGA National Course create an all-round golfer’s paradise that allows you to follow in the footsteps of legends. The PGA National course was the first in Europe to carry PGA branding. With four lakes, and extensive mounding providing separation between the fairways, the PGA National has clearly been built as a tournament course. Water comes into play on eight holes and the bunker placement around the greens provides a tough challenge. In the future, more challenges will be provided with newly-planted trees already beginning to mature. Players on this course can expect an adventure-filled round, but not too difficult as can be found on some international PGA courses.

Venue Information

Being a world-class golf resort, The Belfry has some of the leading facilities in The United Kingdom. Its rentals consist of state-of-the-art golf clubs, caddies, pull-carts & buggies and full services. Its practice facilities feature pitching/putting areas, a driving range with fully enclosed bays, and a bunker for practice. Additionally, they have lessons available, with a teaching Pro and fully-stocked Pro Shop.

Sam’s Club House

Tuck into one of The Belfry’s famous double-stacked burgers, popcorn chicken sharers, or a simple classic from their light bites menu and catch all the sport on enormous screens, or just re-live that middle-of-the-fairway drive, Jiménez-esqe recovery shot, or missed Birdie putt over a cool beer, glass of wine or fresh coffee. Sam’s Club House is the perfect bar just outside Sutton Coldfield for watching all the best in sporting and golf events. As four-time hosts to the Ryder Cup, they know how to create a great atmosphere. Find a spot in our elevated seating area and follow your friends, family and colleagues as they are zigzagging up the 18th of the PGA National, watch the drama unfold on the final green and the winner celebrate in Sam Torrance style! And, in the summer, dine outside on the terrace and warm your weary limbs at our fabulous glass fire pit.
