About

Playing host to more Ryder cups than any other on the planet (4), The Brabazon Course at The Belfry Resort is unique. The majestic fairways and carpet-smooth greens of The Brabazon form a world-famous stage on which some of golf’s most exhilarating dramas have played out.  The course is kept in meticulous condition year-round so that grass cuts are varied, greens are smooth, and any patch of grass deeper than your average rough will challenge your scorecard. Please note that handicap certificates are required when playing this course. It is the oldest course at The Belfry Resort, with its younger counterpart, the PGA National Course being the newest. The Belfry Resort lies near JCB Golf Course & Country Club & Marriott Forest of Arden Golf Resort.

Golf Course Information

Its meticulous design involves tight fairways, perilous bunkers, lakes and fast undulating greens that have challenged some of golf’s greatest players. Water hazards provide a serious challenge to even the most capable golfer, whilst well-rooted trees line many of the fairways, with dog-legs and strategically placed bunkers requiring scrupulous concentration for the whole round. It’s a challenging golf course, but a must-play for anyone who’s serious about the sport.

Walk in the footsteps of golfing legends – Seve’s historic drive onto the 10th green, Sam Torrance’s famous putt that won the 1985 Ryder Cup match for the European Team or Christie O’Connor Jr’s belligerent 2 iron across the lake at the 18th. More recent changes have seen the 6th hole become one of the most demanding, rated highly by modern-day great Lee Westwood.

Venue Information

Being a world-class golf resort, The Belfry has some of the leading facilities in The United Kingdom. Its rentals consist of state-of-the-art golf clubs, caddies, pull-carts & buggies and full services. Its practice facilities feature pitching/putting areas, a driving range with fully enclosed bays, and a bunker for practice. Additionally, they have lessons available, with a teaching Pro and fully-stocked Pro Shop.

Sam’s Club House

Tuck into one of The Belfry’s famous double-stacked burgers, popcorn chicken sharers, or a simple classic from their light bites menu and catch all the sport on enormous screens, or just re-live that middle-of-the-fairway drive, Jiménez-esqe recovery shot, or missed Birdie putt over a cool beer, glass of wine or fresh coffee. Sam’s Club House is the perfect bar just outside Sutton Coldfield for watching all the best in sporting and golf events. As four-time hosts to the Ryder Cup, they know how to create a great atmosphere. Find a spot in our elevated seating area and follow your friends, family and colleagues as they are zigzagging up the 18th of the PGA National, watch the drama unfold on the final green and the winner celebrate in Sam Torrance style! And, in the summer, dine outside on the terrace and warm your weary limbs at our fabulous glass fire pit.
